Well guys and gals the South is truly rising again. Welcome to Southern Trophy Hunters (STH). It should become apparent, fairly quickly, that STH is a unique hunting association. STH is about all things big game hunting, especially Whitetail but will focus primarily on the hunters, hunting, habitat and culture of the South. If where you hunt, determining the bedding and feeding areas is as simple as referring to one of those nice little drawings you see in magazines or on TV or if you’re looking for a place where you can learn how to “track your buck in the snow,” you might want to keep looking. We’re simply not your best bet. If you hunt where you regularly pass on 150” deer that walked acrossed a 500 field at 10:00 in the morning because he wasn’t quite what you were looking for, then I must admit, we’re a little jealous, but we can’t relate. On the other hand, if pines, mosquitoes, nasty thickets, no see-ums and warm weather are the familiar to you, then read on. If faith, your family, your country and the outdoors are your priorities in life, then welcome home!
STH was born of necessity. Forty percent of American whitetail hunters live in the South. Hunting is a BIG part of our heritage, it’s part of who we are and to say the least, we’re passionate about it. However, you couldn’t tell that if you picked up practically any national hunting publication or watched any national hunting show. Most all the articles, photos and shows have little if anything in common with where and how we hunt. In the South we have our own unique challenges and issues. We hunt a deer that is smarter, in terrain that is thicker and conditions that are tougher.
As for Southern culture, if you’ve ever lived, hunted or experienced the South, you know well that heritage and honor are two of our most endearing terms. Much goes into what would be considered our Southern Heritage. Our Christian faith, family, country and culture runs deep. It is our hope that through the pages of STH magazine, the events and productions that STH is associated with, we will truly honor our Southern heritage.
Blessings and Backstraps!!!
